101. Al-Qari'ah
القارعة“The Calamity”
The Surah takes its name from its first word al-qari'ah. This is not only a name but also the title of its subject matter, for the Surah is devoted to the subject of the Resurrection.(Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi - Tafhim al-Qur'an - The Meaning of the Quran)

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
The Striking Calamity -
al-qāriʿatu
مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
What is the Striking Calamity?
mā l-qāriʿatu
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
wamā adrāka mā l-qāriʿatu
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1
yawma yakūnu l-nāsu kal-farāshi l-mabthūthi
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.1
watakūnu l-jibālu kal-ʿih'ni l-manfūshi
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
fa-ammā man thaqulat mawāzīnuhu
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
He will be in a pleasant life.
fahuwa fī ʿīshatin rāḍiyatin
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
But as for one whose scales are light,
wa-ammā man khaffat mawāzīnuhu
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ
His refuge1 will be an abyss.2
fa-ummuhu hāwiyatun
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ
And what can make you know what that is?
wamā adrāka mā hiyah
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
